Wifi internet connectin issue

Hello I am at a hotel and I'm trying to connect to their wifi
They're using a gateway portal? or like a http webpage where you login and it gives you internet access (i think it's called a captive portal)
Well i try to open up my web browser and it says "Server not found" it won't redirect me to the portal, when i try to connect on my phone (android) it works fine and I can login to the portal.
i do netstat -n and it shows i'm connected & etc

[EDIT]: I have actually been able to login to a captive portal before so I have no idea what the issue is

could someone please help me out I appreciate it

Don't these usually work by intercepting the DNS quieries and then redirecting you to the gateway for authentication?  Check your DNS settings and  try to use theirs for the nameserver.  Make sure something else isn't getting specified such as Google Public DNS.
