[Solved] Asus UX31A Secure Boot Violation: Invalid Signature detected

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Arch, but have been browsing the forums for over a year. Anyway, I tried installing on my brand-new Asus UX31A, and am unable to boot. I followed the beginners' guide for an Arch-only UEFI installation using GRUB with 3 partitions: EFI, root, and home. The only deviation I made was that I did *not* reformat the EFI partition, as suggested by this page. The installation went without a hitch (as far as I can tell!). But now when I power up, I get the following message:

Secure Boot Violation

Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup.

[OK]

I did all the hashtool business described here, so I'm not sure why this happened.

Anyway, when I hit enter, I get a Windows error:

Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. Error code 0xc0000225 
...

I can then go to the UEFI firmware settings etc., but not sure what, if anything, I should do there. What should I do at this point? Thanks in advance!

Turn off Secure Boot?

Thanks for the reply! That sounds like a great idea, but when I get to the UEFI menu, it's not clear to me how to do that. There's an option labelled "Secure Boot Control", described as "Secure Boot flow control". Is that it? There's also a line "Secure Boot state", but I can't select it.

Every firmware menu is different and unfortunately I have never dealt with Asus UEFI firmware at all.

Okay, I tried that option, and it did the trick!
