I have notebook Dell Studio XPS 1340 with 8GB RAM, NV 9500 GS graphic card (nvidia driver), USB SB X-FI Pro sound card (Pulse in KDE) and multidisplay where external display (connected through DisplayPort) is set as primary.
I updated the Arch64 in December 2013 after long time (the last update was in Feb 2013), so it was with a lot of issues as usually (sysvinit deprecation, /bin and /sbin linking ....).
It is working now, but the whole system freeze after different times without any specific reason. I am not able to find out the reason, because it freezes randomly and the logs (everything.log, error.log, kernel.log) dont help.
I update the system regularly.
I tried also kernel-lts with the same result. But I noticed, that with "acpi=off pcie_aspm=force" in kernel line in main.lst (as it was with default kernel-lts setup) it does not freeze.
I also run "top -b" and after freeze the log finished with following lines:
5734 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.38 kworker/0:0
5949 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.00 kworker/1:1

6741 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0,0 0,0 0:00.00 kworker/0:5
I also use Windows 7 64bit, which is working without any issue, so I do not expect that it is some HW problem.
uname -a :
Linux Notesbook 3.12.7-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 10 08:50:35 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I would be grateful for any advice, as I would like to use still linux :-).

I reinstalled the system from scratch, but it freezed again. So I tried to remove nvidia binary driver and tried the nouveau and it is fine.
It seems there is some issue with the NVidia driver.
