I've turned the previous script into something more complicated that tries to automatically deal with different window managers. The source is here. It can be found in the AUR as 'tdrop-git'.

I'd recommend not using the script in this thread and using xdotool/xdo for hiding instead (as explained in the blog post). That's what I'm doing now, and it works much better.
