Cannot boot (no video) with UEFI, works with BIOS

I have a new Acer S7 (i7 model, with HD4400 graphics, see http://ark.intel.com/products/75460 ) that boots to the install prompt with Legacy BIOS selected, but boots to a black screen after selecting Arch at the gummiboot menu.

I was able to successfully load all the EFI loaders into SecureBoot with hashtool, and also tried disabling SecureBoot and encountered the same behavior.

Tried adding some kernel options (nomodeset, video=SVIDEO-1:d, i915.modeset=0). No change.

Any ideas? Bug in gummiboot, maybe?
