Battery charging threshold - stuck percentage when plugged AC

I have Thinkpad T530 laptop and wanted to set battery charging to start/stop when a battery capacity reaches certain percentage. I installed tpacpi-bat, loaded

modprobe acpi_call

and exetuted these:

perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/tpacpi-bat -v startChargeThreshold 0 40
perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/tpacpi-bat -v stopChargeThreshold 0 80

as described here or  here. I also blacklisted tp_smapi module since systemd-modules-load.service failed.

The problem is that it somehow broke cbatticon. It appeares on my toolbar but no icon shows up and when I hover my cursor upon it only "Battery Monitor" text appears (normally it shows battery percentage and how long it takes to discharge/fully charge). No error messages. (More info in the following post.)
Any hints?

Re: Battery charging threshold - stuck percentage when plugged AC

The issue occurs only when an adapter is plugged in.
Here is an output of

acpitool -B

when the adapter is plugged in:

  Battery #1 : present
    Remaining capacity : 43600000, 78.02%
    Design capacity : 56160000
Last full capacity : 55880000, 99.50% of design capacity
    Capacity loss : 0.4986%
    Present rate : 0
    Charging state : Unknown
    Battery type : Li-ion
    Serial number : SA

The "Remaining capatity" remains constant. It always shows 78.02%.

When I unplug my adapter and issue the same command:

  Battery #1 : present
    Remaining capacity : 43210000, 77.33%, 03:42:27
    Design capacity : 56160000
Last full capacity : 55880000, 99.50% of design capacity
    Capacity loss : 0.4986%
    Present rate : 11654000
    Charging state : Discharging
    Battery type : Li-ion
    Serial number : SANYO

The "Remaining capacity" now slowly decreases (as expected). Also cbatticon works normally.

When I plug the adapter again - with cbatticon running - my battery monitor gets stuck again. "Charging state" changes to "unknown" and "Remaining capacity" is constant. Also the remaining capacity time disappears. Icon is now shown on the toolbar but it is  stuck as well. It shows constant percentage and remaining time and it doesn't recognize that it's charging.

why don't you post into cbatticon's thread?

I already posted a whole bunch of messages there and I didn't want to spam it completely. It also seems to be more an issue of tpacpi-bat than cbatticon. maybe I should rename the thread properly.

Re: Battery charging threshold - stuck percentage when plugged AC

More info:
When I plug AC and the capacity is below 40% then charging works normally even if it goes beyond 40%. When I unplug AC and I'm in the interval of 40-80% and then plug it again the percentage gets stuck.
At least I managed to revert the changes back to normal by uninstalling tpacpi-bat and then removing and re-inserting the battery.
Really noone knows what went wrong?

Re: Battery charging threshold - stuck percentage when plugged AC

Have you tried using TLP? It takes care of your thresholds aswell (/etc/default/tlp) and offers you fullcharge options ("tlp fullcharge") or even discharge.
