When I press the mute button on my keyboard, there is a painfully loud burst of static. I'm using the optical output, so it's not related to some crappy internal soundcard noise. I've also added "load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0" to my /etc/pulse/default.pa file, based on the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … _crackling
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is this only pulseaudio related or does also happen with playing sound through alsa directly? If yes, then look into alsa drivers for your card and/or external hardware issues. If no, look what command you are using when pressing mute key. Run it in a terminal, maybe some error shows up. Maybe pulseaudio (or something along the signal path) does not wait for end of buffer and quits stream abruptly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using the KDE default, muting through kmix. I'm not sure if it's ALSA or pulse. Muting with amixer doesn't produce any glitches, so I'll remap the key to use that.

Did you solve your issue? What and how did you remap? If yes, please mark this thread as solved.
