Cloning an exisiting Arch Installation: /etc/machine-id ?

Hello everybody,

quick question: What do I need /etc/machine-id for? I've seen it's created during pacstrapping a base installation.

--> do I need to remove this file and create it anew when I clone an Arch installation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you change the uniqe identifiers of gpt-partitions, lvm-partitions and filesystems? If yes, then you should change the machine-id, too. Remove the the file and run systemd-machine-id-setup as root.
