radeon dmesg spam

Hi,

So a little while back I had trouble getting the xserver to start. My laptop has an AMD-5750M and an AMD 8970M and I ended up solving the issue by enabling UEFI with CSM support boot mode. Everythings fine except I've been unable to grab dmesg info when I want it because of radeon errors.

[11891.188315] [drm:radeon_cs_parser_init] *ERROR* VM not active on asic!
[11891.188318] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to initialize parser !
[11891.188378] [drm:radeon_cs_parser_init] *ERROR* VM not active on asic!
[11891.188382] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to initialize parser !
[11891.188450] [drm:radeon_cs_parser_init] *ERROR* VM not active on asic!
[11891.188453] [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to initialize parser !

This continues for approx 7000 more lines. What could be the issue here? I haven't noticed any odd behavior. I wouldn't mind but I'd like to be able to use dmesg when I need too...

Thanks in advance.

Re: radeon dmesg spam

I think I've narrowed it down to vga_switcheroo. Switching the dGPU off appears to be the cause of this spam. I'll just make sure not to switch it off if I ever need to view dmesg

Re: radeon dmesg spam

I fed a crawler with the error message and it came up with at least one helpful link: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49981
Read the comments. I think there is a fix regarding mesa.
