Hello everybody
Just upgraded kernel and networkmanager to discover after reboot that networkmanager failed to load. After downgrading it to a previous version it works again ![]()
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/networkmanager-0.9.8.8-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xzLast edited by jasonwryan (2014-02-24 02:34:21)

Thank you. Wasn't aware of that but have learned lesson. Before upgrading - updating I'll let it seat for an hour to see if there's bugs and just then I'll install
Best Regards ![]()

Usually if there's an issue after an update it should be easy enough to downgrade the package. There's a nice tool in the AUR for this: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/downgrade/

After sudo pacman -Syu, my KDE freeze on the loading screen (after typing username and password).
By trial and error in the terminal, I found that NetworkManager couldn't start up:
NetworkManager: error while loading shared libraries: libsystemd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
And ldd shows that libsystemd.so.0 is not required by networkmanager-0.9.8.8-1.
What would be the problem? Did I miss some dependency?

I have the same problem, for now I just downgrade the package to 0.9.8.8-1

Why scared? You can always downgrade from your cache.

I can confirm: 0.9.8.8-3 is working fine, so just update.

I upgraded too, but I still have the problem with networkmanager plus policykit. Don't know what to do trying to fix this for 2 days now. I already reinstalled all packages.

What problem? Same error? If not, start a new thread.

Yes, I had the same error for network-manager: 'libsytemd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory'. I've checked again, network-manager still fails now without the missing lib error, but 'missing libsystemd.so.0' shows up at polkit.service and accounts-daemon.service. So do I need to open a new thread for that?

Unless you're running gnome-unstable, that doesn't make much sense since the polkit package hasn't been touched in months. gnome-unstable requires the testing repo AFAIK.
Edit: yes, start a new thread. Your issue seems to be deeper than the one in this thread.

Thanks!
You were right, just disabled Gnome-unstable and downgraded to Gnome. Everything works fine again ![]()
