Not sure if this was reported but since the upgrade of the kernel to linux-ck-ivybridge 3.12.13-1 my system doesn't boot at all. After clicking on the entry of gummiboot, the screen just becomes black. Nothing appears. I'm not sure what should I say more than this.
For now, I'm running the vanila kernel for now and it runs well (3.13.5-1-ARCH)

I have same issue on lenovo y580 with uefi... after installing ck kernel booting is freezing without any error or meesage...

Boots for me (non-UEFI though so I cannot test). I have read posts about people with gummiboot not being able to boot some kernels. Wish I had something more for you. The difference between 3.12.13-1 and 3.12.12-1 is just upstream code: http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur-mirror.git/ … c722381306

If you build it, does it boot?

what do you mean when I build it ? I was always using your package (linux-ck-ivybridge) and was working fine... never didn't build kernel for arch by myself. when you will release next version I will test it so please if you don't mind write here when new version will be available than I will try. Until that time I will stay with vanila arch kernel witch is very slow for me (don't understand why my laptop is freezing with vanila kernel even with coping files from pendrive to hdd)...

Why not downgrade to 3.12.12-1 from your cache dir?

removed all cache before so don't have that package anymore... do you have it to send me ?

Why in the world would you clear your cache before knowing that things work?

got some problems with package signature from ck repo and thought that maybe some package was broken... now I know that wa not good ide, but little bit too late

I have installed the latest linux-ck-ivybridge on an Acer laptop and it is booting with UEFI just fine. My bootloader is grub if that can help isolate the problem.

My laptop is also an Acer. But I'm using gummiboot. Maybe it was what graysky was saying and gummiboot cannot boot some kernels.
@graysky
I'm follow your suggestion and I'm compiling the kernel now. I will edit my post when it finish

@siamer - Sure, download it manually:
# pacman -U http://repo-ck.com/x86_64/linux-ck-ivybridge-3.12.12-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
I think this is a problem with gummiboot; I don't use it so can't comment.

you were right graysky. I tried kernel 3.12.12-1 that you have send me and is not working! so probably problem is with my configuration (didn't change anything so doubt it) or gummiboot as you said...
if I will find some solution than will let you know...
thanks for your help!

Guys - please take non-repo issues to their own thread (ie bootloaders).
@siamer - You need to sign my key:

Graysky, there was a post way back in 2012 asking about delta package support for repo-ck. You have obviously not enabled it, but you did not give any reasons there as well. Could you reconsider it? My Internet bandwidth is capped so it takes very long to update the kernel and I would really appreciate it. Please also tell me if there is anything I can do to help. I know C++, bash scripting and have working knowledge of linux.
Also linux 3.13 is out. Thought you might have missed that.

@rich - I have no knowledge of deltas for repos. Since the official repos aren't using it, I haven't elicited much interest in learning. I am aware that 3.13 is out (3.13.5 at the time I reply), but CK hasn't ported the BFS into the 3.13 tree yet so linux-ck will be in the 3.12 tree until that happens. The good news there is that it seems that 3.12 is a longterm kernel (according to lkml).

The -ck patches for 3.13 are not available yet:

Ooh. I might be tempted to create an AUR package for this, if people want it.
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.
