Before the recent update to kernel 3.13.4-1 to accommodate modular keyboard support, I didn't have any error messages printing at boot time. Now drm is complaining:

I'm running on an ASUS UX31E, so I have i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 in my kernel line.

I just upgraded to kernel 3.13.5-1, and I even made sure to upgrade my BIOS from version 211 to the newest, version 214 (from ASUS's official site: asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX31E/#support)
The problem persists. Any ideas?

I am running
3.13.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Feb 23 00:25:24 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
on a UX31A
I am getting the message at boot time
[drm:intel_dp_start_link_train] *ERROR* too many voltage retries, give up
But the machine starts up fine. I don't know if this errromessage has any ill effects on the machine?
Regards,
Theo

I also get several
```````
[drm:intel_dp_start_link_train] *ERROR* too many full retries, give up
```````
But I can’t see any problem so far on a Dell XPS 13.

I have also discovered the same problem.
The system is
3.13.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Feb 20 23:54:52 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
on Asus UX32V.

Are these upgrades from 3.12 or 3.13.3?
Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

I'm pretty sure my original upgrade was from 3.12.
I just upgraded to 3.13.6 today, and now I'm experiencing crashing sometimes when xscreensaver starts (it was while watching a youtube video; my window manager is XMonad, which also crashed; I killed X from another tty and it automatically came back to my lightdm login). This crashing was happening pre-3.12 as well, but went away with 3.12 and also wasn't there with 3.13.{4,5}.
My guess is the xf86-video-intel package sucks and isn't keeping up with changes to the kernel.

It might be helpful to note as well that since the kernel upgrade to 3.13, when lightdm is loading I see a full blue screen flash for a split second, when before it was just black.

Same here on UX31A with xf86-video-intel-git from AUR

There is the linux-lts312 if you want to try running the 3.12 kernel and keep the [core] kernel at 3.13.
However, something tells me a git bisect between 3.12 and 3.13 might tell us what is going on, so upstream can fix it...
