(SOLVED) battery running out - could it really be due to powerline?

My 9cell battery - which is a couple of weeks old, is running out really quickly.

While I was debugging what could be possibly using power on my laptop, I was a bit perplexed about what was on top of my list.
I use tmux, I actually use it on steroids, with multiple nested levels, as you can see from the screenshot above.

Can any of you who uses powerline and tmux check their power consumption ? I find it hard to believe that powerline could be using 3W of power

How often do you update the status line?

I have the default from github, every couple of seconds, don't actually need it to be that frequent, so I can happily increase that number.
Still I don't think every 2 seconds could be a cause for this, will give it a go.

set -g status-interval 2

do you use tmux jason?

Well spotted, it was indeed the 2second interval.

I set it to 120s, a few C-a-Rs and it went down to 86.5 mW

Yes, I use tmux: but just with the basic status line. Glad you got it sorted.
