Connman-ui's GUI malfunctions with stalonetray

I am kicking around Connman connection manager to see if it can replace WICD for me. It has a GTK gui called Connman-ui.

It seems to be working, but the visual side of it is not usable:
connman gui

As  you can see, the list of available networks is only several pixels high (there are ~10 networks there).

This issue exists in stalonetray, but not in XFCE tray plugin.

Also, not sure if that's a feature or an error, but the list of networks shows only if I press and hold the LMB on the tray icon. Clicking it makes it disappear as soon as I release the button.

Maybe it's a window manager problem. Which WM are you using?

Openbox + compton. I noticed nothing similar with any other app.

First try disabling compton, and if it doesn't make a difference, then maybe test it with another WM.

Re: Connman-ui's GUI malfunctions with stalonetray

I killed compton but the problem remained.
I am using stalonetray, but I also have xfce panel so I enable Notification area in it and when Connman-ui's tray icon is in it, it displays the list properly (even though it still disappears after releasing the click).

I wonder if there is some stalonetray setting which could be causing it.

EDIT:
An interesting observation - I also tried "trayer", and with this tray, the menu has height of 2 full network names, which is an upgrade from few pixels, but not the desired full length that XFCE tray provides.

EDIT2:
I discovered that if the conman-ui is started BEFORE the tray app, then both trayer and stalonetray show two network names. But that is not the rule. Sometimes they do, sometimes they show only one, and sometimes just few pixels.

Xfce tray shows full list at all times.

Re: Connman-ui's GUI malfunctions with stalonetray

Since this seems to happen with multiple system trays, I suppose you should report this issue upstream.

Re: Connman-ui's GUI malfunctions with stalonetray

Done. Apparently, it might help to move tray position to the top of the screen.

The creator is aware of the issue but says it's the fault of GTK but there's been no progress on it since several months.
