dual shock 3 clone not working with bluez 5.0

I have a dualshock3 clone joypad, it used to work fine in bluez4 using qtsixa, with bluez5 the api changed and it stopped working, according to This bluez5 is supposed to support the functionality directly, i installed bluez-5.15-1 and bluez-plugins 5.15-1 and bluez-utils-5.15-1, plugged my joypad trough usb port to pair it, but despite it being shown in gnome-bluetooth-applet, connection failed to estabilish
afterwards i closed the bluez daemon, and launched manually in a console redirecting log to stdout and with full debug on, i also launched bluetoothctl and enabled agent mode and set as default
upon plugging the controller, bluez daemon shows the following log: http://pastebin.ca/2650105
while this is the log when trying to press the PS "connect" button:  http://pastebin.ca/2649259
attempting to connect the device from gnome-bluetooth-applet instead produces the following log: http://pastebin.ca/2649260
i also tested to use connect command and set the device as trusted from bluetoothctl but it produced no change other than a generic connection failed error
after talking on #bluez-users@freenode irc channel i also made sure that qtsixa and sixpair utilities were uninstalled since some users reported few issues when present, but no log change was reflected, anyone has a tip how to debug this further?
