Hi folks,
Here's my problem: I am trying to build the latest wacom driver for my tablet laptop so I can use touch sensitivity in gimp and other applications. I seem to missing some libraries or some thing, this is the relevant part of ./configure:
checking for valid Xorg SDK... "xf86Version.h missing"
"Tried /usr/X11R6/lib/Server/include and WCM_XORGSDK/xc/include"
./configure: line 19566: cd: /usr/X11R6/lib/Server: No such file or directory
and:
***
*** WARNING:
*** Unable to compile wacom_drv.{o,so} without XF86 build environment
*** or Xorg SDK.
*** wacom_drv.o will not be built
***
What is the Xorg SDK (software development kit?) and does anyone know where I can get it? Will I have to build Xorg from source? I have done a search in pacman and on the website and can't seem to find anything.
Note in other distros (ubuntu & gentoo) the package is called linuxwacom.
Thanks in advance for an help!
Ben

ok, trying to do a PKGBUILD of the kernel, which will hopfully have the required wacom driver/or work with the prebuilt ones that come with linux wacom. But pacman -A on the result of makepkg fails as it appears to try and install over the top of the existing 2.6.15 kernel... any ideas?

I've made this PKGBUILD:
# Contributor: wain <wain.at.gmx.net>
pkgname=linuxwacom
pkgver=0.7.2
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="Drivers, libraries, documentation for Wacom tablets"
url="http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net"
license="GPL"
depends=(tcl tk xorg)
makedepends=(gcc)
source=(http://dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/linuxwacom/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.bz2)
build() {
cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver
./configure --enable-wacom --enable-wacomdrv --enable-wacdump --enable-hid --prefix=/usr
make prefix=/usr|| return 1
make install DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg
cp prebuilt/wacom_drv.so $startdir/pkg/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/
cp prebuilt/wacom_drv.o $startdir/pkg/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/
mkdir -p $startdir/pkg/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/usb/input
cp src/2.6.14/usbhid.ko $startdir/pkg/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/usb/input
cp src/2.6.14/wacom.ko $startdir/pkg/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/usb/input
}Install with pacman -Uf to overwrite kernel modules usbhid
It works great with the gimp and Xorg =< 6.9 (I can't make it work with modular xorg at this time) with my wacom volito2 tablet

I've made this PKGBUILD:
Install with pacman -Uf to overwrite kernel modules usbhid
It works great with the gimp and Xorg =< 6.9 (I can't make it work with modular xorg at this time) with my wacom volito2 tablet
That package is exactly what I need
The problem is that im to n00b to get it, can you (or someone else) help me? I cant find the package :oops:

You need to build the package yourself. Copy the scriptlet (in green) that wain posted in a file named PKGBUILD. Then, run:
makepkg
After, as root, install with:
pacman -Af linuxwacom-0.7.2-1.pkg.tar.gz
There is more information in the makepkg/pacman man pages and in the wiki.

Ok, I missed the makepkg part when I search the wiki, but now I got it! Thanks Snowman!
But it get some errors during the package build, when the configure part of the wacom driver is running I get an error that I have to install the xorg SDK and that hid-core.c and HID_QUIRK is missing.
I have xorg installed, and hid-core.c and HID_QUIRK sounds like some kernel/module stuff to me, but I have no idea. I guess I better look on the linuxwacom page to get that stuff solved. ![]()

Ok, were to start?
I've looked at the link to the wiki that Wain posted, there were not much instructions but guess that its just to C&P the package build and run it? So I did but got errors.
First this.
'/PKGBUILD: line 189: syntax error near unexpected token `{
'/PKGBUILD: line 189: `getvar(){Then after the dependencies check and just after the "Starting build()..." I get this.
/usr/bin/makepkg: line 599: build: command not foundI searched the forum for the line 599 error and found a thread, but it didnt help much.
But I did a namcap on PKGBUILD if that is to any use.
PKGBUILD ("pkgname$_cfgname") E: Missing md5sums
PKGBUILD ("pkgname$_cfgname") W: Missing Maintainer tag
PKGBUILD ("pkgname$_cfgname") W: Missing CVS Id tag
PKGBUILD ("pkgname$_cfgname") W: Reference to i686 should be changed to $CARCHIm unsure about the whole Kernel compilation part, I must done something wrong.:cry:
So some help would be appreciated, I realy what my Voltio to work!

what's the exact kernel version you are using ?
# uname -a
I will try to build this pkg.tar.gz for your system. ![]()

OK, my kernel is 2.6.15-ARCH, SMP PREEMPT.
Forgive me for asking, but I dont realy understand whats the problem is.. :shock:
Is it that the linuxwacom driver package is incompatible with my kernel or is the the kernel compilation part that play tricks?

no problem with 2.6.15-ARCH kernel
You just have to download this file in an empty directory.
then run
$ makepkgthis should build the linuxwacom-0.7.2-1.pkg.tar.gz file.
(This file contains new modules wacom and usbhid for your 2.6.15-Arch kernel.)
Install with
# pacman -U linuxwacom-0.7.2-1.pkg.tar.gz# reboot
# modprobe wacom
$ cat /proc/bus/usb/devices | grep -A 4 Vendor=056a
P: Vendor=056a ProdID=0062 Rev= 2.00
S: Manufacturer=WACOM
S: Product=CTF-420 V2.0-0
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr= 40mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=01 Prot=02 Driver=wacomThe last line must be Driver=wacom
to be continued

I looks like I get the same error as I got in my second post... :?
Will it help if I paste the full make log?
Anyway the error occur during the compilation part, but I get those three warnings during the configure.

I don't understand your problem with makepkg but this package should work for you:
http://archiwain.free.fr/sources/linuxw … pkg.tar.gz

I installed the pkg with no problems, than I rebooted and runed 'modprobe wacom' but got an error.
FATAL: Error inserting wacom (/lib/modules/2.6.15-ARCH/kernel/drivers/usb/input/wacom.ko): Invalid module formatAnyway I did 'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices' and found the wacom device but driver is =(none).

The module is incorrect for you beacause I use a different kernel version
You must do the makepkg yourself :?
I realize I have the same error "wcom_drv.o will not be built because of the Xorg SDK. It doesn't matter because we use prebuild drivers.
Please read this wiki page and try to compile some example successfully.
Then download again this new PKGBUILD and try to compile:
http://archiwain.free.fr/sources/PKGBUILD
Good luck !

Ive tried some other PKGBUILDs now with out any problems.
Are you sure that this driver works with the 2.6.15 kernel?
According to the linuxwacom page only kernel up to 2.6.13/14 is supported :?
