I think flash problems are more likely caused by browser changes.
I used to be able to have flash full screen with firefox, but since approx firefox 22 i switched to the flashplayer-standalone from aur.
You might want to try out chromium with the pepper-flash plugin.

No, it's not the browser. I am using google chrome, which before switching away from Catalysts played YT videos just fine on fullscreen. There was no updates in between.

Also, as an ex-Catalyst user, I have two unrelated questions.
1. Is there some utility to manage power profiles of ati card? I tried setting it up with a power script to use "battery" when unplugged, and "balanced" when on AC, but with your drivers it gets overridden on high GPU load and it jumps to "performance".
2. Fullscreen Flash works really bad on those drivers. On catalysts, I could go full-screen and retain fluidity of youtube even on 720p. With OpenSource drivers, it works OK if the YT video is in a window, even if it takes 90% of the screen, but as soon as it jumps into full screen, the frame rate drops to like 1-2 fps.
Is this normal with non-catalyst drivers?
You don't need a configuration file or a xorg.conf. Stock options should be fine.

I did some tests and here's a breakdown:
Google Chrome - perfect colours, 1-2 fps on full screen
Firefox with HW acceleration -faded colours (but not blue, as usually with malfunctioning flash), reasonable fps
Firefox w/o HW acceleration - perfect colours, not sure if fps changed
Opera with HW acceleration - all blueish, reasonable fps
On catalyst, the FPS was best on Chrome, but all browsers had reasonable FPS in fullscreen and colours were always perfect with or without HW acceleration.
Can someone comment on those?

I discovered that every now and then my X crashes with those drivers.
The screen freezes. Than goes blank for a second, and comes back, but it does not accept any input anymore - not from mouse, nor keyboard.
I have to ctrl+alt+F2 to another console to kill X, which will then restart and work fine until another crash, which may or may not happen after hours.

Lockheed, keep in mind that these are development drivers that can break easily.
Fortunately they are actively maintained, and get many commits each day.
when a breakage happens : run makepkg again to make sure you're running the latest version, the problem may already have been solved.
If latest version gives the same problems, then search if there are bug reports about it.
If none is found, look into bisecting git to determine after which commit the problems first.
You then also can fall back to a git version from before that point until the problem has been solved (often takes just a few days).
In short, build often and keep previous versions a while so you have a fallback option.
I'm currently running Version : 60897.7965908-1 , build on 29 january
the first number is a count that indicates the number of git commits that mesa has had, the 2nd is the short tag for a specific commit.
With that version i have not encountered any problem.
If you feel the above is to much work, you can switch easily back to stable mesa :
pacman -Syu (to make sure everything is uptodate)
pacman -S ati-dri llvm-libs
(you may have to add some more packages, but pacman output will help with that).

And just to clarify, mesa-r300-r600-radeonsi-git in AUR is updated not when there are changes to the git itself, but only if it can no longer build the most current version from the git, which would mean that regular yaourt system update will usually not update those drivers to newest possible version.
Do I get it right?

yes, bugs in aur git packages should be reported upstream normally.
mesa-r*-git uses mesa git repo and llvm svn repo , so there are 2 possible upstreams.
when there are bugs, mesa bugtracker is first place to check : https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mesa

yaourt may have specific flags to build git packages, but mesa-r*-git and lib32-mesa-r*-git are normally only updated if there are build problems or changes in things like --configure flags .
Personally I don't use yaourt at all, i use makepkg and a local repo.
(I try to update both mesa-r*-git & lib32-mesa-r*-git on same day if needed, but haven't fou nd time to update lib32- to reflect the changes i recently made in the 64 bit package)

After two weeks of using new and improved open source drivers, I am back to catalysts on my R600.

The Radeon OSS crew is fantastic but still limited in manpower, and moreover they are obviously more interested in recent asics. See e.g. this bug report about RV6xx boot freezes with dpm. It's been open since many months and it has received attention from Alex Deucher, but nevertheless it's still open and it doesn't seem it will be closed any soon. R600 class chips are old and one has to accept that the provided OSS support is limited.

This is a just a heads up. Kernel 3.13.3 has turned off DPM as the default on my HD 6850. I knew that the AMD devs were going to do it for some families of cards as some cards within those families had bugs (this one is Barts). DPM seems to work well with this card, so I re-enabled the kernel command option which wasn't necessary for the first two releases of the 3.13 series.

I just wanted to report that on Arch Linux 64-bit with GNOME desktop and kernel 13.13.3 my HD 6670 is working great with the open source xf86-video-ati radeon driver after some trial and error tweaking. Basically, using this Arch guide <https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI#Glamor>, I enabled glamor and turned EXAPixmaps off. This seems to be the most stable. After playing several games of Dota 2 in a row I am happy to report no freezing and no artifacts! There are still some minor hiccups but even those are way down. I have to manually turn on dpm with a kernel parameter as skottish said, but dpm seems to be working well for me.

Yes, it's currently a workaround, something broke llvm-shared library support with egl-static target. Will bisect soon to find what's wrong

I have noticed mesagit/lib32-llvm-libs-svn does not conflict/replace extra/lib32-llvm-libs .
while those 2 packages don't have conflicting files, i think they should conflict so all llvm stuff is same version.
