CPU usage is now frequently topping 100% for a few seconds and Chrome has never before been as unresponsive and slow. It affects also other windows, like lxterm window opening up, I can almost see it being rendered.
My installation is very minimal without desktop manager and using Openbox (and X).
Sorry I don't know how to report debugging info for this, just hoped that someone else had run into same problems and found solutions.

Does this happen only when you're using chrome?
Anything interesting in the logs or systemd's journal?
What packages did you upgrade? What graphics card and drivers are you using?

to add onto karol's barrage of questions: what plugins and extensions are enabled? have you set any custom flags in about:flags?

As said, UI in general seems to be slow, seeing the terminal window rendering is totally new. I'm using Chrome extensively so I guess that's how I discovered this issue. Boot time is still fast, it just seems everything to do with UI maxes out CPU usage.
GPU: Intel i915
