Steam and some games running under it have crackly audio after updates
Hi,
Several days ago I applied a system upgrade and ever since then Steam has been having issues with crackling sounds. This affects steam itself (notfication sounds, voice chats, and big picture) and some of the games running under it. I'm a bit of a newb and I'm not sure what additional info to provide, but if you ask I'll post whatever specs/logs you need.
Games that are affected: Super Hexagon, Super Meat Boy
Not affected: FEZ, Surgeon Simulator, VVVVVV, Garry's Mod, Pretty much just those other two are affected.
I've tried all audio fixes I could find related to skype but those don't seem to help here.

just a question... are you using pulseaudio? alsa? Also, what packages were upgraded?

I am using PulseAudio. I also have the alsa plugins and the 32-bit libs for it installed. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what packages were updated or the date, but I looked at the changelog for PulseAudio and v5.0 was released about the same time I started having issues. It must be related to 5.0.
