So I've explored the forums and found quite the number of people having this problem - but somehow I don't see any solutions posted.
I'm installing on Lenovo x1 which has Windows 8 already installed on the same SSD. If I make the live USB as dual MBR with UEFI boot I can boot in legacy mode and install, but the boot loader won't configure properly for UEFI mode.
On the other hand UEFI mode loads up to the menu (and the shell works) but Archlinux blank screens (tried Manjaro - samething) any thoughts on how to get around this?

Same problem here on a DN2820 NUC.
Ubuntu works out of the box in UEFI mode.

I used an older install iso (2013.07) which booted.
I also noticed that sometimes it works. So try booting if you get black screen then reboot and try again and again, maybe it will work. (I think some kind of race condition involved)
