No sound from headphones

Hi
My laptop is suddenly experiencing an audio problem. When I play any audio/video, the laptop speakers are playing the sound fine. When I plugin the headphones, there is no audio from headphone, however when I put a little downward pressure on audio pin of headpone, the sound starts to come from headphone.
The headphone was working fine, some minutes ago but now its not. What may be wrong with it? Is audio jack is broken? or some software problem? How can I fix it?

It sounds like the audio jack is messed up.

Was the headphone working fine in that jack? Or somewhere else?

Yes, headphone is working fine else where. Also I have more than one headphones and none is giving sound. I am out of warranty so thinking about purchasing a usb headphone. However, I wonder that how a usb headphone works? As the builtin audio jacks are connected to sound card, but the a normal usb port is not connected to sound card so how it produces a sound for usb headpone?

Try unmute headphone channel in alsamixer

It is confirmed that audio jack is broken
