Hi all,
I have been trying to resolve some issues on my 64-bit arch install relating to graphics (specifically some missing libraries that were causing glx info to fail). In doing so, I reinstalled some of the intel graphics drivers and similar items (no, I don't have a list).
When I tried to start up my computer this morning, I was initially faced with an error relating to the intel drivers being displayed instead of a login screen (I didn't write the error down). I assumed restarting the computer would either a) fix or b) reproduce the same error. However, upon restart, I have been faced with a completely blank screen after bootloader. How can I fix this, or do I need to do a fresh install?
Kind regards,
Mike

Not much info - some graphics libraries, some error ...
Are you booting straight to X or to the tty? Can you switch to another terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F2 or Ctrl-Alt-F7?
Use a liveCD / liveUSB to check pacman's log to get the list of the packages you installed + their versions. You can chroot and try to update your system.

Firstly, please change your topic title to something relevant to your problem.
Secondly, could you boot a liveCD, chroot in to your system. and extract the relevant part of your pacman.log to show which packages you reinstalled.
Thirdly, while chrooted, could you check, and post any relevant parts of, the contents of your last couple of journals (which may include the error you didn't write down)

Moving to newbie corner. This does not quite rise to what we are trying use System Administration for.

Fair enough though, it's a stupid mistake to make.
In this case, I think the issue was related to upgrading lib32-intel-dri, lib32-libgl and lib32-mesa. I ssh'd in to the laptop and did a system upgrade, and after a restart I'm back in.
Thanks WorMzy and Karol for giving me some ideas - I thought my reinstall was going to be rather precipitated!

If that is an attempt at humour; it is particularly unwelcome and misguided: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … _The_Staff
Read the sticky on this board and you'll see that ewaller was being considerate, not patronising. I'm not as patient.

Thanks for the guidance jasonwryan, no offense was meant and I apologise for inappropriate humour, and contravening board rules.
