Where would I start to debug this and has any one else seen this problem...?
I think looking up the Wiki can be a good idea (especially this and this).

@rumpelsepp Unfortunately, I cannot confirm this: DejaVu Sans renders just fine for me (FF + DejaVu Sans Regular 8; I also tested it as a default sans typeface and the results were positive again). Could you please check out if using a fresh FF profile makes a difference?
I hate firefox, I did not change anything and now the problem is gone again. I also tried an empty profile and the problem with the python doc codeblocks (which I reported a few weeks ago) appeared again. Let's leave this as a firefox issue...

Some diacritic letters look, in my opinion, bad with Gelasio (the Georgia replacement). Since updating, it's not uncommon for me to miss e.g. Ö in a text, as was the case in the picture below.
Look at the beginning of the last row ("politiska förslag"); I have to look close, not skim read, to detect the two dots of the O (i.e. Ö). Firstly, the dots are a bit high up (or maybe I'm just unaccustomed to it). Secondly, the first dot looks like it is part of the F (well, almost), so I somehow subconsciously dismiss the second dot -- maybe dirt on the screen? -- and therefore see the letter as an O.

Nothing seems to be wrong so I'm guessing this is about personal taste. Which free font, replacing Georgia, was used before? I'll probably override Gelasio with that one.
Finally, I'd like to end with thanking you for all the infinality packages. I've been happily using them for a long time now...

I think it can be a good idea to contact Gelasio's author, Eben Sorkin, and ask him to revise umlauts (they do not look distinctive enough, but they also seem to be placed a bit too high IMO). Unfortunately, right now there is no better alternative to Georgia that would be metrically compatible with it. If you find the quality of Gelasio disturbing, consider using another font: both Century Schoolbook L and TeX Gyre Schola look close to it -- Century Schoolbook L vs Georgia. Alternatively, check out Gentium Book Basic (Gentium Book Basic vs Georgia).

I'll try and see to it that I contact him later this week. Anyway, I tried both your suggestions and I felt more comfortable with Gentium Book Basic, which I am now using instead of Gelasio -- at least for the time being. Thanks for a quick response!

We have been waiting long for this to happen, but we finally have a new server! The precious thing was kindly donated by frank604, including a nice domain name, so we push him a pint of beer or whatever will make him feel like a very special man. Please, change the URLs in /etc/pacman.conf:
[infinality-bundle]
Server = http://bohoomil.com/repo/$arch
[infinality-bundle-multilib]
Server = http://bohoomil.com/repo/multilib/$arch
[infinality-bundle-fonts]
Server = http://bohoomil.com/repo/fonts
Beware: the beast is fast.
The maintenance costs are pretty low -- circa $10 a month -- which gives you plenty of bandwidth for the entire bundle to install and reinstall at any time you wish. Here I dare to ask you for your support: as long as you can, please consider a small donation to keep the service up and running. I will soon set up a site at bohoomil.com with a link to my flattr account where you can drop a penny or two. I will wholeheartedly appreciate your cooperation.
There is also a pretty big (in technical terms) update. See the relevant part of the CHANGELOG:
2014-03-21
~~~~~~~~~~
* fontconfig-infinality-ultimate
** major revision of ms collection configuration files
(`ms` collection is fully compatible with the most recent Windows 8.1
fonts releases)
** numerous bugs fixed and inconsistencies removed
** major revision of `custom` collection configuration files
* renamed `custom` collection to `combi` (required by `fc-presets` to
correctly set 35-repl-custom.conf for `free` and `ms` presets)
* latin scripts are based on the customized `free` collection with
TeX Gyre Heros / Termes and Adobe Courier as main metrical replacements
for Arial/Helvetica, Times New Roman and Courier New
* non-latin scripts are based on customized `ms` collection
** updated `fc-presets`:
* added a postjob function for free & ms collection to set
`35-repl-custom.conf` for custom tweaks (not needed with the `combi`
collection)
** modified naming convention for `ftypes` config files
** added support for new font families
* freetype2-infinality-ultimate
** `infinality-settings.sh`: revised and updated rendering styles
** updated dependencies
Enjoy and thank you.
You don't need to credit me. I was just tired of the repo's lagging my 100 Syu's a day addiction. PS. Update the first post with new repos.
Too late - you've been named and shamed! ;-)
Thank you. Let's see if it cures the Mysterious Case of the Hungry Hungry Repo.
But that just kills the fun of watching each repo sync. It is like scratching a scratch-n-win lotto card and seeing the numbers all at once--no fun! I live for the suspense. Afterall, aren't we supposed to live on the edge?
Thanks frank604 and bohoomil! I'm going to make a flattr account to help out. Be sure and get bohoomil.com update with that info.
I will also consider a small donation for your great work! Is there another possibility than flattr (paypal, whatever?)
I've had the same problem (yes, I've imported the key and signed it as well, as described in the first post.).
Edit: I'm stupid, see this.
I've just run 'pacman -Syy' and it went fine. I've installed some fonts - all went fine.
Have a read through https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … icial_keys
If still fails, try to reset all keys (scroll a little down from link)
I did that before as well, did not change anything. Everything works fine if I comment out the repos in /etc/pacman.conf.
I'll try playing around a bit more, I guess.
Yes, this was working fine yesterday and has been working fine since ages ago.
I tried again just to be sure, didn't fix anything.
I tried resetting the keys, still hasn't helped.
Yup. Edit your pacman.conf and run 'pacman -Syyu'. If this doesn't fix it, post your pacman.conf.
Offline
pacman-key --refresh-keys
pacman-key --init
pacman-key --populate archlinux
pacman -Syyu
that worked with my Arch
Well stick me in a dress and call me Sally. Totally didn't see the new repo URLs in the first post.
Thanks, everything's working fine now!
@bohoomil
I wanted to install ttf-google-fonts-git from the AUR.
Will there be any downsides if I remove ttf-droid-ib in favour of the ttf-droid from the Google package?
