Hello all,
I'm about to install Arch from scratch (some small issues piled up...) and consider using btrfs this time instead of EXT4.
It's a simple GPT disk, nothing fancy.
A couple questions that come to mind:
- If I remember correctly, a few months ago I read Syslinux does not support booting a btrfs partition compressed with lzo (which is my plan), is it still correct?
- Suppose it is, do all I need is a separate /boot partition of roughly 100MB, with a EXT4 file system on it and the rest can be compressed Btrfs?
Thanks, Adam.

yes and yes
see warning about syslinux and btrfs here: http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/ … _Changelog

Affirmative on both. I used that kind of setup and everything had worked perfectly. But than I realised I did not need that kind of setup and that I was overcomplicating.

Great, thank you both.
Perhaps I'll just go with Grub, it seem to support compressed btrfs partitions.
I don't need anything special anyway.

Syslinux still doesn't seem to handle btrfs subvolumes very nicely, and IMO, if you are going to use btrfs you should be playing with subvols.
