I was wondering why koffice depends on both mysql and postgresql. I know it's probably because of kexi, the new database app in KDE. But is that really necessary? I mean, it is probably not even linked to the postgres or mysql API, but kexi just calls those binaries, right? (Like a plugin). If not, I think I am going to submit a bugreport.
I know Debian has modularized them (even kexi itself is a seperate package): http://packages.debian.org/unstable/kde/kexi
