Hi all, I've got problems to start LibreOffice Draw. I can start other libreoffice software (writer, calc, math,...) but Draw is not starting at all.
Libreoffice version: 4.2.2.1
Gnome Shell: 3.10.4
When I try to start it in my terminal i get this:
$ libreoffice --draw
Xlib: extension "XINERAMA" missing on display ":0".
avahi_client_new failed.
XINERAMA error seems not important cause all libreoffice software works with that error. I tried to reinstall libreoffice, clear "~/.config/libreoffice", disable Java inside libreoffice... Nothing works.
I found nothing about this avahi error.
Thanks for the help.

Is avahi installed?
Offline
I've the same (or a very similar) issue.
$ libreoffice --draw
avahi_client_new failed.
Nothing about a missing extension though.
I do have avahi installed.
# pacman -Ss avahi
extra/avahi 0.6.31-11 [installed]
p.s. A search for libreoffice "avahi_client_new failed" is surprisingly unhelpful.

Avahi is installed.

Hmm, I get the same error, but the program runs fine anyway. If I start the avahi-daemon service, the error goes away and everything still runs fine. I don't think this is related to avahi.
Anything helpful in your journal?

I'm not sure what this means that I don't have an Avahi service (I don't though, I checked). Seems odd. Further, why the missing service would cause a segfault for some people, and not for others. Very strange.

Alright, so we know for sure that this is not related to avahi, it's segv'ing either way. This will need reported upstream. They'll ask for a backtrace, so you'll need to rebuild with debugging symbols and run it in gdb; I would do it myself if I could reproduce.
Offline
I'll try to do that bt as soon as possible.

Before you go upstream, create a new user and try to start draw while logged in as that new user. There is a good chance that you have some stale configuration file that is causing trouble.

Libreoffice version: 4.2.2.1
On my system libreoffice is at version 4.2.2-5, it will maybe help to run a 'pacman -Syu'

Mine is 4.2.2-5 too but language pack is 4.2.2-1 (all except en-US are this version). I've installed en-US package and removed mine, it still doesn't work.

libreoffice is fairly broken as a split package and often needs other components to work. Try and install libreoffice-impress and see if that fixes it.

I am not actually sure this isn't avahi related. Whether avahi is running or not, either way the output immediately prior to the segfault seems to be generated by AvahiNetworkService.
I've reported it upstream, but not very well (I simply haven't the hours and energy to track down the bug in more detail, especially since draw is not something I need on a daily basis). Please add additional information to the bug report if you've got time.
Regarding the version and split packages. I've got the entire libreoffice group, each package of which is showing version 4.2.2-5; so that should be good.
Regarding the possibility of bad user configuration data. I tested that before initially posting.

bdjnk,
I can reproduce your segfault with only draw installed, but it will work with impress installed. It all works if I install the whole group. I'm curious to see how things work with other users.
Offline
Yep, segv's for me without impress installed.

Just for the fun of it I reinstalled the libreoffice group, which brought in kdelibs for libreoffice-kde4. I had previously excluded it from installation, since I don't use kde. Lo and behold, draw was now working (with and without avahi). I then used -Rs on libreoffice-kde4, tested again, and sure enough, it all seems to have resolved itself. Bizarre stuff.

I've installed Impress and now Draw is working. Thank you all.

A bug report in the Arch bug tracker would be most appropriate.
