Hi,
I've got a few mp3's that mpd (ncmpcpp) won't play. mplayer or totem can play them fine. The progress bar moves but there's no sound and it doesn't display any error message.
What can I do?

Set log_level in mpd.conf to verbose, it should produce useful output in mpds log. Can you narrow down the type of mp3s that are not playing correctly (cbr, vbr, joint stereo)? Is mpd from repository or AUR? Is anything else that mpd depends upon not from repository? It will not hurt to run ldd.
ldd /usr/bin/mpdI would check changelogs of dependencies for any major changes in APIs and similar. Try stripping tags down from those mp3s. If you use the repository version, as last resort you could build mpd yourself.

when mpg123 works, set mpg123 as engine for mp3 files in mpd.conf
He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.
