I have a problem with the printer "Canon Pixma MP230" (USB / CUPS). This does not print.
CUPS is otherwise set up correctly, for example, the CUPS-PDF printer works fine.
I have set up the printer with the Gutenprint drivers, as the original Canon driver on my
64-bit system install too many 32bit programs.
Does anyone have an idea - maybe someone has the same printer - how do I get the printer to work?
I'm Thankful for every tip!

The canon pixma MP230 is NOT listed on that page, are your sure gutenprint can handle your printer ?
as the original Canon driver on my

Canon tends to combine 32-bit code libraries with pure 64-bit code a lot, so canon forces us to use multilib solutions.
If you want a pure 64-bit system, don't use canon printers but choose another brand that does supply pure 64-bit drivers.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I got my canon pixma MP230 working with both my computers, The thing is I used a slightly different technique in both cases, on my desktop I used canon-pixma-mp237-complete which is from the AUR, that supports the MP230. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cano … -complete/
Other than that I unfortunately can't remember what I did, maybe this will be useful:
➜ ~ pacman -Qs printing
local/canon-pixma-mp237-complete 3.80-1
Complete stand alone driver set (printing and scanning) for Canon Pixma MP237 series
local/cups 1.7.1-4
The CUPS Printing System - daemon package
local/cups-filters 1.0.48-1
OpenPrinting CUPS Filters
local/lib32-libcups 1.7.1-1
The CUPS Printing System - client libraries (32-bit)
local/libcups 1.7.1-4
The CUPS Printing System - client libraries and headers
➜ ~ pacman -Qs printer
local/cups-pk-helper 0.2.5-1
A helper that makes system-config-printer use PolicyKit
local/smbclient 4.1.6-1
Tools to access a server's filespace and printers via SMB
local/system-config-printer 1.4.3-2
A CUPS printer configuration tool and status appletJust posted it because that's everything I have related to printing and printer in case that helps.
Let me know how you get on and I'll see if I can scour my brain to remember more about how I set it up. As far as I remember I just followed the cups instructions from the wiki and used the drivers that I linked above.
Good Luck. (p.s. scanning works fine with this too)

With gutenprint 5.2.10-1, released at 2014-05-21, the printer works perfect!
