Hello,
I'm working on getting Archlinux (base install) up and running with MythTV on my PVR and going through the documentation I was able to format the hard drive into the 4 partitons required by mythTV (boot, swap, /, and video). It was recommended that I use ext3 for the boot and / partitions and xfs or jfs for the video.
Anyway got everything setup properly except the boot part. I didn't get an option to change the FS on this partition like the others.

Is your system up and running currently? You could format boot from within the system
Are you sure you selected the /boot mountpoint during install?

OT: Using a journaling FS for /boot is waste of space. A simple 20M ext2 should be fine.

Just be warned - if you use ext2 for /boot, you really should make it auto-unmount after booting. Ext2 filesystems are, in my experience, very, very susceptible to corruption following improper shutdowns.

Gullible Jones: got a point. just add 'noauto' in /etc/fstab for /boot partition if you use ext2.

I dunno, to me 100 megs is 100 megs. I've never come close to filling a 100 meg boot partition, but I've never had to kick myself in the ass for "wasting" 100 megs either. Even on a 3 gig hard drive. I guess I don't understand the argument.

Oh yeah, if you use the noauto option in fstab *always* remember to mount the /boot partition before upgrading your kernel! I learned that the hard way... It's an easy mistake to make, but it *hurts*.
