I'm using an iMac Intel (2007) with an external monitor. I used to have the external one on the left and the iMac on the right.
Everything was fine until today, when I *just* moved external monitor on the right and changed my xrandr script like this:
xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1680x1050 --pos 0x0 --rotate normal --output DIN --off --output DVI-0 --mode 1920x1080 --pos 1680x0 --rotate normal
The thing is that now when I turn on the computer the built in monitor turns off as the startup process reaches the Xorg phase.
Do you have any ideas about why this happens?
I didn't touch the Xorg configuration at all, when I installed the system both monitors were recognized correctly.
Thanks in advance!

Could you post the original xrandr command that was working for you before, if you have it?
If your mac is still usable with just the external monitor, could you post the output of xrandr (with no arguments)?
Yes, computer is usable with just the external monitor, as a temporary workaround I'm running a `xset dpms force off` to turn off and on again both monitors.
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3600 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192 DVI-0 connected 1920x1080+1680+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 521mm x 293mm 1920x1080 60.0*+ 1680x1050 60.0 1280x1024 75.0 60.0 1440x900 75.0 59.9 1024x768 75.1 60.0 800x600 75.0 60.3 640x480 75.0 72.8 66.7 60.0 720x400 70.1 LVDS connected 1680x1050+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 433mm x 270mm 1680x1050 60.0*+ 1400x1050 60.0 1280x1024 59.9 1440x900 59.9 1280x960 59.9 1280x854 59.9 1280x800 59.8 1280x720 59.9 1152x768 59.8 1024x768 59.9 800x600 59.9 848x480 59.7 720x480 59.7 640x480 59.4 DIN disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
This problem got worse after a system upgrade.
Now the built in monitor doesn't turn on even after `xset dpms force off; xset dpms force on;`.
Edit: even if the monitor is off, if I take a screenshot of the whole screen (Built-in + External), I do see windows placed within the built in monitor.
