[solved] Missing log files

I'm afraid there's not much I can find about this, searched the wiki and forums. Thing is I can't find much logging, I read I should have errors.log and everything.log but those aren't present. dmesg outputs a proper log, but there's no dmesg logfile in /var/log.

I do have faillog and lastlog but both output junk.

Xorg and pacman logs are fine.

Did I miss something?

Thanks!

Re: [solved] Missing log files

You are using systemd, so you have a journal, not legacy logs.

See the wiki for more details.

Re: [solved] Missing log files

Thanks. That wasn't easy to find, though.

I searched for all those error log filenames but that didn't came up anything useful. If I had typed a little slower I would have seen that when typing journal it shows journalctl which turns out to be what I was looking for.

Cool!

Re: [solved] Missing log files

I said it was a systemd function, so I expected you would go straight to the systemd wiki page. smile

Re: [solved] Missing log files

Sorry I meant to say it wasn't easy to find before I asked. Your answer led me straight to the right page.

I'm not familiar with systemd at all so I had no idea about this, so I had no idea what to search for.

Apologies for the confusion! smile.
