Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

I'm trying to get my NVIDIA Quadro K200M working with Bumblebee (using the guide on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bumblebee). bubmblebeed is running and the system seems to detect the NVIDIA card using the driver package "nvidia" but I get the following error:

tirithen@host> optirun --debug glxgears ~

How can I continue to debug this error to get this working?

Re: Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

Any solution? I tried to install the ck packages and i setted the "rcutree.rcu_idle_gp_delay=1" grub parameter, but it doesn't work.

There are separate nvidia-ck or nvidia-all packages if you want to run the nvidia drivers with the CK kernel.

Claire is fine.

I installed the following packages:
linux-ck
linux-ck-headers
nvidia-ck

Should i try with nvidia-all instead of nvidia-ck?

Hmm, I don't know that much about nVidia cards, sorry.

Re: Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

I was playing with bumblebee on my thinkpad w520 tonight, works nicely. Notice the error "PCI:1:0:0", if you run lspci, is it "PCI:1:0.0"? (. intead of:). if so, consider modifying BUSID in /etc/bumblebee/xorg.nvidia.conf.

Doubtable that is the issue though, as it worked out of the box for me on my W520. Did you make sure you followed the instructions and installed everything you needed:
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S intel-dri xf86-video-intel nvidia bumblebee bbswitch primus

Did you add your user to the video and bumblebee groups?
gpasswd -a $USER video
gpasswd -a $USER bumblebee

Did you try optirun -b primus <applicationname>?
Did you try primusrun <applicationname> instead of optirun (careful with this, it will fall back and not error)

Are you on 64-bit trying to run a 32-bit application? If so, install (use default mesa-gl when prompted for gl implementation, do not pick nvidia):
lib32-nvidia-utils
lib32-intel-dri

Here is my system install script that works perfectly with bumblebee:

#!/bin/bash
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S ntp
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S xorg-server
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S xf86-input-synaptics
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S intel-dri xf86-video-intel nvidia bumblebee bbswitch primus
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S gstreamer0.10
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S gnome gnome-extra
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S chromium flashplugin
pacman --noconfirm --needed -S vlc transmission-gtk handbrake

systemctl enable ntpd.service
systemctl enable gdm.service
systemctl enable bumblebeed.service
systemctl enable NetworkManager

echo Adding user niriven
useradd -g users -G wheel,audio,video,power,bumblebee -m niriven
echo Please enter new password for niriven
passwd niriven

Other than that, to run 32 bit applications, I installed:
pacman -S lib32-nvidia-utils lib32-intel-dri

Then proceeded to the instructions on the steam page, in which I installed:
pacman -S ttf-liberation lib32-alsa-plugins steam

First of all thank you for your help!

I checked, also it is PCI:1:0:0

I already installed they, but I checked once more -> OK

Previously I didn't add my user to video group, but I added now. It didn't help.

I tried the following command:
optirun -vvv glxspheres64

primusrun glxspheres64

and the output:

It is doesn't matter for me, because I want to use only CUDA. With nouveau driver I didn't have any problem. Bumblebee and bbswitch were correct, but with nouveau I can not use the CUDA. That is my problem.

I can the discrete card turn on/off with with the command of echo ON >> /proc/acpi/bbswitch and echo OFF >> /proc/acpi/bbswitch, but when I tryd to run the command optirun -vvv glxspheres64
, than it stay in OFF, after an restart can I next time the state of bbswitch to change.

Re: Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

Are you on a 64-bit or 32-bit machine? Looking at the log, its referencing lib32 primus which is strange. maybe I am unsure how it works. If you are 64-bit running 32-bit anything (primus, nvidia drivers, or the command running) you need the two lib32 packages i mentioned.

64 bit. As I see about the log, it trid to load or use always both version (32 and 64 bit) of primus and nvidia :

[  709.021910] [DEBUG] LD_LIBRARY_PATH: /usr/lib/nvidia:/usr/lib32/nvidia

[  709.021934] [DEBUG] Primus LD Path: /usr/lib/primus:/usr/lib32/primus

I didn't install any 32 bit package:

/usr/bin/optirun: ELF 64-bit LSB executable
/usr/lib/primus/libGL.so.1: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object
/usr/lib/nvidia/libEGL.so.334.21: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object
/usr/bin/bumblebeed: ELF 64-bit LSB executable,

Re: Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

I have the W530 and exactly the same error output as #8. How to debug this further? What does

ACPI Warning: \_SB_.PCI0.PEG_.VID_._DSM: Argument #4 type mismatch - Found [Buffer], ACPI requires [Package] (20131218/nsarguments-95)

mean (output from dmesg)?

Re: Bumblebee on Thinkpad W530

Hey

I got got the nvidia card working on my W530, except for the intel-virtual-output which is currently buggy.

Installed Packages:

bumblebee 3.2.1-5
primus 20131226-1
bbswitch-dkms 0.8-1
nvidia-ck-ivybridge 343.22-2
linux-ck-ivybridge 3.16.5-1
xf86-video-intel 2.99.916-3

Changes/Configs:

- Added "rcutree.rcu_idle_gp_delay=1" to the kernel line in syslinux/grub
- Changed Graphics in BIOS/Config/Display to “NVidia Optimus” and “Optimus OS Detection”
- Added my user to the group bumblebee
- I didn't edit the bumblebee.conf
- I didn't edit the xorg.conf.nvidia eighter

Optirun works but I still got nasty ACPI warnings though...

Thank you Asator. I'm not using bumblebee, but installing and changing what I've quoted from you made my laptop work again. Got my W530 working in docking with two external monitors again without the nolapic kernel parameter (which gave me only access to one core on the cpu). If this were my thread, I would have marked it as solved.
