OpenSSL upgrade

I need to obviously upgrade OpenSSL on an ArchLinux server.

server(/temp): uname -a
Linux server 3.7.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Feb 25 12:04:25 CET 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

server(/temp): openssl version
OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013

Where can I find the exact package to do this?  Is there some simple pacman command I can run to do it for me?

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

You don't upgrade a single package: you update your entire system.

Not an Installation issue... moving to NC.

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

pacman -Syu

You need to update the entire system - that's how Arch works.

If you're responsible for an Arch server, I recommend you learn some basics - the wiki would be a good place to start.

I just noticed that...  You have plenty more to worry about!

You got a whole lotta updates to do... You might want to read the news page on the ArchLinux main page before updating.

On a different tack, why haven't you been updating the system (or if you have, have you ever re-booted it)?

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

I have to update the whole system to fix one problem?  My slackware server fixed with "upgradepkg openssl-1.0.1g-x86_64-1.txz" in 30 seconds.  Arch linux?  4 hours of downtime?  There has to be a way pacman a newer openssl only without reinstalling everything.

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

Well, that's why it's generally not recommended to operate HA servers on a rolling release distro, I guess. Especially on something like Arch.

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

Did you read anything about Arch before installing it. It's said in many places.

Partial updates are not supported.

You need to update the entire system regularly.

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

Arch is not slackware, and partial updates are unsupported.

Re: OpenSSL upgrade

This thread has reached it logical conclusion.  Yes, it is the nature of Arch not to support partial upgrades.  I think the point has been made.
I am going to close this thread at this point.
