DeaDBeeF Musical Spectrum Plugin

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share my spectrum plugin for the DeaDBeeF audio player with you. It's based on DeaDBeeFs stock spectrum (big thanks to Alexey!) but highly modified and inspired by foobar2000s foo_musical_spectrum plugin. It's still pretty early in development therefore I don't offer stable releases yet.

Features:

  • high accuracy (FFT size: 8192)

  • interpolation for lower frequencies

  • each bar represents one musical note (C0 - F10)

  • 70 dB range with grid

  • good responsiveness

  • configurable color gradients

  • configurable falloff speed and delay times for bars and peaks

Installation:

  • Dev: AUR PKGBUILD
    or manually

  • get the sources

  • run make

  • run ./userinstall.sh

  • (re)start DeaDBeeF and add it to your layout with View -> Design Mode

ToDo:

  • make FFT size configurable

  • add lables

  • make grid configurable

  • make dB range configurable

  • ???

I'm looking forward to your feedback and suggestions! smile

Thx. smile If you like you can also check out my spectrogram plugin (AUR). It's basically based on the same code base just with a different visualization and it is too pretty early in development.
