[Solved] Difference between pacman -Syu and pacman -Syyu?

I've been using pacman -Syu (Well yaourt -Syu technically) but I saw in another thread someone running pacman -Syyu - what is the difference there?

Re: [Solved] Difference between pacman -Syu and pacman -Syyu?

jasonwryan, Thank you for your quick response, and thank you for assuming that I didn't know how to use manpages. If I didn't know before, that would have been incredibly helpful.

Maybe I should be a little more specific. Having already read the manpage for pacman, knowing what -Syu does, I am curious what the difference is between -Syu and -Syyu. I tried to mention that in the title. I saw nothing concerning -Syyu in the manpage, and just to be sure, I grepped for it and found nothing. I have also done a quick google search with no useful results.

Since you have already taken the time to confirm that I know when to ask a question, do you think you could rephrase your answer into something that resembles an answer?

I appreciate your help.

EDIT: I just realized after posting this that I sound like an ungrateful jerk. I'm not trying to be one, and I hope I haven't offended you - I know you were just trying to point me in the right direction, and I know you didn't mean to come off any more condescending than I meant to sound ungrateful... Sorry about that!

Re: [Solved] Difference between pacman -Syu and pacman -Syyu?

Rather than grepping the man page, perhaps you could actually read it? It is probably the single most important manual in Arch and is not particularly long.

-y, --refresh
Download a fresh copy of the master package list from the server(s) defined in pacman.conf(5). This should typically be used each time you use
--sysupgrade or -u. Passing two --refresh or -y flags will force a refresh of all package lists even if they appear to be up to date.

@TheGuyWithTheFace
I think you need to read the man page again, carefully.

Edit: Good morning, jasonwryan :-)

Ah, evidently I skipped the second sentence. My mistake - thank you for your patience with a bad skim reader, and I apologize if I was rude a moment ago.

Thanks a lot!
