flash player fullscreen not workign well

Hello, my problem is with the fact that flashplayer is not working well. So if i use Youtube, then all works as desired but if i view a flash video in another website, then the video shows well but on fullscreen the place where the video is showing goes black, but the audio is still visible. I was trying to search for the video in the sense that maybe the fullscreen is not vaptured well, but this is not the case as i could not find it at all.

I have Gnome 3.8
Firefox 26.0
Flashplayer version 11,2,202,332
I also have Chromium installed just for testing, here sometimes the fullscreen works flawless other times it does not.

I have tried devilspie and steal my focus from gnome extensions, and sadly no improvement. I have tried enabling and disabling the HW acceleration and no change either.

One of the pages i use very often is vplay.ro just in case you might want to take a look.

Hardware wise i have a dell laptop with Core i5, Intel video card and an nVidia card 510M. The fullscreen for youtube or for videos played using a player, smpayer or something like that is working flawlessly.

Re: flash player fullscreen not workign well

Going fullscreen creates a new window for flash player. When you have clicked the fullscreen icon on the player, just go to Activities overview and seect 'Plugin Container' icon from favorites applications area.

Re: flash player fullscreen not workign well

Hello,
I think i will stick with the selecting the plugin container from the side menu. As for the Fullscreen troubleshooting in Gnome, i have tried those and for some reason they don't seem to be working, and the selecting of the plugin container is fairly simple for me and not an inconvenience at all.

Thank you all and wish you awesome holidays!

Re: flash player fullscreen not workign well

The workaround using devilspie for flashplugin fullscreen playback doesn't work for me neither. Can anyone look into this? I'd like to have this addressed before I continue further flashplugin performance troubleshooting.

Any ideas?

I'd suggest to just wait for gnome-shell 3.12 (that has finally fixed the flash fullscreen bug).

Anyway, I used the devilspie workaround and it always worked.
If you really can't wait for gnome-shell 3.12, I suggest checking that devilspie is running (maybe you have set up the scripts for chromium, firefox, etc, but is devilspie running?).

Re: flash player fullscreen not workign well

Thanks, wil. This might be it. The devilspie is probably not running on my system.

On Gnome 3.12, I don't think they've accepted the patch. Tha status is still 'unconfirmed' and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=722743#c21

Re: flash player fullscreen not workign well

I don't know for sure but maybe that is a different bug; right now I'm trying gnome 3.12, which has finally come to [extra], and the fullscreen works without devilspie, except for a focus issue: the fullscreen window is finally visible (so the "main" bug is fixed) but is *not focused* (meaning that ESC won't minimize the fullscreen, you have to focus the window first). In the link you posted they talk about "focus stealing", so it might be related to this "new" bug (which is IMO a minor bug that doesn't really need a workaround like devilspie).
