Re: GNOME messed up after system upgrade

I just wanted to point out that gnome shell 3.10.3-1 actually worked for me too:

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gnome-shell-3.10.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

It seems some update (today or yesterday) fixed this

I don't think so, I just booted up a different computer and still noticed the problem. When I did an upgrade there wasn't anything gnome related in there and downgrading to gnome-shell 3.10.3 fixed the issue once again.

Re: GNOME messed up after system upgrade

Yeah, I had 3 successful boots, but now I experienced the same issue again, unfortunately.

Re: GNOME messed up after system upgrade

This issue is caused by a bug in gnome-shell 3.10.4 and seems to be triggered under certain circumstances (so it may not appear all the time). The bug is fixed upstream but neither gnome nor the Arch developers seem interested in releasing a new version. Maybe we have to downgrade and wait until 3.12 for the bugfix.

Could you at least remove the 'solved' tag from the title? Downgrading hardly seems like a solution; it's more like a work-around

OK. I can understand you. But you can edit the PKGBUILD to apply the patch upstream. I used this way as my solution and it works fine.

Re: GNOME messed up after system upgrade

I'm still experiencing this issue but i'm not having available time for further investigation. Do we have any news?

The bug report about this in the Arch Bug Tracker was closed yesterday because the maintainers said this bug should be fixed in the coming 3.12 series so they're not going to fix the present package.

So you can wait until the exciting gnome 3.12 comes the the repo. Hope it won't be long.
