i folllowed the instructions from wiki and i had enabled the preamp section in alsamixer in order to increase the volume to my laptop.i had started a topic about this issue https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=178326 .in order preamp to work i have to select in kmix the default sound device but such a device is not available in vlc. i had selected the hda analog device but the sound is poor.how i can check that the sound in my laptop is stereo?

i found a solution from terminal with command

vlc --aout alsa --alsa-audio-device default

.how i can that the sound is stereo that both internal speakers are working?

What do you mean with poor quality? Artefacts in signal? Does speaker-test work with internal speakers? To check stereo run:

speaker-test -c 2 -t wav

If you are running pulseaudio, you may want to check this thread and this wiki article.
