HP / Compaq 420 Randomly fails (kernel panic)

Hi guys! I'ts been about 2 months since I first started looking for causes and fixes for this problem, but I couldn't find anything that applies to this model. It works fine nearly all the time, but when I download torrents (o even when I use it to copy many files at the same time through sftp or scp), it works for an uncertain amount of time (sometimes a few minutes, other times a few hours) and then it falls on a kernel panic.

The lspci output is this:

Re: HP / Compaq 420 Randomly fails (kernel panic)

Would be nice if you could get the OOPS or BUG. Is that possible?

If it's the CQ60-420US then it's odd. I don't see any other reports of this issue. Did it start to happen after a kernel upgrade?

Sorry, I don't even know what the BUG nor OOPS are. I live in Chile, South America, so I don't believe that my model is the US one. And...it simply happened. After the installation, it worked flawlessly. After a few reboots, it just died. Then I turned it on one last time to check if it worked, and it did! I have upgraded the kernel a couple of times and it doesn't seem to fix, but it keeps doing exactly the same as before.

Ah, sorry. Think I went too fast there wink .

If you type 'dmesg' in your console it will show you the system logs. Whenever the kernel freaks out (PANIC, BUG or OOPS) then it's shown there. It can help developers to find out what is going wrong.
