MDM and Cinnamon problem persists after the new release today (1.5.1-4). Can anyone confirm that for me?
MDM and Cinnamon was working with 1.5.1-3, 1.5.1-2 and 1.4.11-1 for me. Still working with 1.5.1-4.
In case it's worth mentioning, I build and install my packages with makepkg -si (also, ignore the Packager field, I have that set because I'm looking into whether it's worth my time uploading packages I maintain to a repository).

I made the switch to lightdm, and so far cinnamon 2.2 is working... ok. I'm really interested to know why you are fine with MDM, but some of us are having issues. And I also tried MDM 1.5.1-4 with no luck

You're not the only wondering why I'm not having any problems with this combination. And I'm using AMD hardware with AMD Catalyst, which can cause loads of problems for some people, even with supported hardware.

Hi, I opened an issue on Cinnamon github to hopefully act as a clearing house for 3.12 issues:
https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/3070
Feel free to add issues there, I'll start making a list on the OP there, and remove as they are fixed. OT posts will be deleted, please keep it to "this is broken" or "this happens" and logs/examples where possible.
Thanks

I'm considering making packages for older 3.10 apps, would there be any interest from fellow cinnamon users? I'm looking at apps that have switched to CSD, such as gedit, gnome-disk-utility, etc. Also, I'm looking for suggestions for other apps that have switched to CSD.

I think that using the MATE equivalents (pluma, mate-disk-utility, mate-terminal, atril....) is going to be easier.

Has anybody else experienced this:
Beside the delay I have notice that System Tray icons fail to appear when first added in a session. They only appear if I restart Cinnamon or reset settings to default.
Looking glass error logs show the icons being added to the systray and nothing more.cinnamon 2.2-3 cinnamon-control-center 2.2.3-1 cinnamon-desktop 2.2.0-1 cinnammon-menues 2.2.0-1 cinnamon-screensaver 2.2.0-1 cinnamon-session 2.2.0-2 cinnamon-settings-daemon 2.2.1-1 cinnamon-translations 2.2.0-1

Which System Tray icons?
Icons I know that that appear: Deluge
Icons I know that don't appear, because of the Music Applet: VLC, Banshee, gnome-mplayer (basically most media players) <= Legitimate reason not to appear.
Icons I know don't appear that should: Transmission
Icons that seem to being doing a different thing every time I start them: Steam

What I was experiencing was graphics corruption in the menu and panel. The icons seemed to be working for programs on both the left and right ends. If I reset cinnamon the worst of the corruption cleaned up but it slowly reappeared with use. The latest system updates today seem to have reduced the severity of the corruption. Right now all that remains is the pop-up balloon text for a running application has a black background with black text.

Yes, Transmission and variety. Those are the only ones I tested. Both appear if I restart cinnamon.

If I can find some icon threads on the CInnamon github, I think we should post there (I know there are threads, it's a matter of finding them, because this is not a new problem).

I hope I'm not OT, but I think it is correlated: since the cinnamon update, my lirc remote doesn't work anymore.
I launced irw and all works as expected, but XBMC doesn't receive any command from the IR remote, and also the remote doesn't behave as a keyboard anymore.
Did anybody notice anything similar?

Cinnamon process is also taking higher than normal CPU usage when not under lock screen (about 10%), I think this is a very serious issue for laptops, as it consumes large amount of battery power when idle under lock screen.
Ah, so that's why my CPU history was showing 50% after a un-locked my screen.

I can confirm that my CPU usage is also very high while locked. When I unlock I notice that my CPU temperatures are abnormally high. Should we file a bug report, and where?
OK, so I've filed this screensaver issue here on the ArchLinux Bugtracker. If more people have it (or I see that other distributions have this), then we can report it to the Cinnamon Github.

Any other laptop users experiencing weirdness with their power applet since updating? Mine doesn't show up when I login, then it pops up after I wake my laptop from sleep, but it doesn't update over time. And sometimes it just does funky things like saying it's on 0% power and plugged in when it's mostly charged and not plugged in. Restarting Cinnamon just seems to make things weirder.

Yep, same here. Just patiently waiting for it to get fixed. I actually get my battery icon back after a suspend, but it doesn't update. For now, I have conky giving me my battery stats.

It would be nice if we can add missing minimize and maximize buttons back to those gnome 3.12 applications. Also make the title bar looks "Normal" to people outside gnome dev team...

I just mentioned it on the link opened by mtwebster, the symptom appears after I install the nvidia driver. It was OK with nouveau... But since you have a ATI card, I guess it indeed has something to do with cinnamon.
I guess another thing worth mentioning, but may be unrelated, is that the nvidia's "PowerMizer" (a function that scales the GPU frequency dynamically) is locked on the highest level, it never goes down at all, no matter the how much load is on the GPU.

Cinnamon-settings-daemon, cinnamon-control-center and cinnamon-screensaver have just been updated, but the problems with the power applet are still there.

I can confirm that both keyboard layout and power management applets do not show in the systray, even with the last updates. Restarting cinnamon doesn't change anything.

That's an issue with PAM, not Cinnamon screensaver. See this discussion on the cinnamon Github: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-s … /issues/39

Ok, thank you. It seems to be an old issue, strange that I did not see those error messages before today. But the issue has been closed, is there then a bug report for that ?
