[solved] Tips to configure mpd/ncmpcpp to listen to music remotely

Hi,

I have a Raspberry Pi (running Arch) at home, with two HDD plugged in (for backups, and for music). I use MPD manage the music library, and a combination of ncmpcpp or iOS apps to manage the playlists (the Pi is plugged into our stereo). It works awesomely locally.

I also access my Pi remotely through ssh, so I can remote backup, and that works great too. Now one thing I would like to do is use this setup to listen to music remotely. Are there any of you with similar setups, and what do you use?

I was thinking about using icecast to do the streaming, and then use a web interface to access my music. But then, I'm so fond on my terminal that I'd rather use ncmpcpp. Do you have any suggestions about how I can ste things up?

Thanks!

Maybe you just mount the remote drive using sshfs and setup mpd/ncmpcpp on your computer?
