Warning: xfce-power-manager (1.2.0-6 -> 1.2.0.198.g76d1f4f-1)

Hi,

today's upgrade of my packages almost damaged my laptop hardware. I am running xfce as desktop environment and configured the energy settings, such that the laptop goes to standby when closing the lid.

However, today I made a system upgrade, one of the upgraded packages was xfce-power-manager. This update seems to reset the energy settings. After a reboot, I closed the lid and put the laptop into my the bag. Well, the upgrade reset my settings from "go to standby" to "turn off display". Hence, the laptop got really, really hot inside the bag and smelled like burnt as it did not go to standby as expected...

So this is a warning to all those people running xfce on their laptop and doing an upgrade: Check your energy settings afterwards. I'm really asking myself, how this can happen...

Sorry to hear that your laptop was almost damaged.

It is most likely realted to upower 0.99 and xfce4-power-manager. xfce4-power-manager-git from AUR may be a fix.
