Firefox and X have high CPU usage when the mouse is moving. [MBA 6,2]

Whenever I move my USB mouse (Logitech G400) while in X, the CPU usage of X in top spikes from >1% to 20-30%. If I move my mouse above the firefox window when it is the active window, Firefox spikes from >15% to 60-80% cpu usage. This does not occur if the mouse buttons are used without moving the mouse, and this also occurs when I use the trackpad, though the resulting CPU usage is noticeably smaller.

This occurs in all DEs and WMs I have used, although in cases like XFCE the process for the window manager receives the spike instead of X. Firefox still experiences the spike regardless.

The integrated GPU is an Intel HD Graphics 5000 processor, and the CPU is an Intel Haswell-series i5. I currently have the xf86-video-intel and intel-dri installed, and according to glxinfo, direct rendering is enabled. I have mba6x_bl-dkms installed, and its removal did not affect this problem.

Re: Firefox and X have high CPU usage when the mouse is moving. [MBA 6,2]

Maybe try another mouse? Just to see if it's an video or a mouse (usb subsystem) problem?

Could you also provide /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

I will try the former once I obtain another mouse.

Here is /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

Re: Firefox and X have high CPU usage when the mouse is moving. [MBA 6,2]

Piggy-backing on this since it mentioned high cpu and firefox. Is this a new install, or a change in the behavior of Arch recently? I've been trying to find threads like the issue I've been experiencing, but it's hard to find them. My primary browser is chromium and for the last 1-2 weeks, I started noticing extremely high CPU, but upon using Tools -> Task Manager, it would tend to be a single tab and I could refresh it to make it go away.

It's persisted, so I decided to try jumanji, but noticed super high CPU (top reads > 100%) when loading a page. Same for firefox, uzbl, and dwm. Now I'm starting to wonder if it's an X thing and anything trying to render is eating CPU. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. Just wanted to post here to follow the thread and see if you find a resolution. If my system is at all similar, I'm happy to help troubleshoot.
