Has anyone reported issues with ath9k or wireless networking in general?
I switched from wired - so I can't say how it was working with previous versions - but on both 3.13.9-1 and 3.13.8-1 doing a scan for wireless network freezes system dead. Doing it at boot time, i receive output such as:
BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 23s! [ksoftirqd/3:24] BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 22s! [ksoftirqd/3:24]
And the system obviously won't end booting up.
I have Atheros AR9462-based wifi card and this does not happen with vanilla kernel.
i have also experienced this, but to a lesser degree. my card is an ar9287, and i'm running linux-ck-atom 3.13.9-1 on an atom n270. my system has booted successfully and is working fine at the moment, but it prints the above message multiple times immediately after completing boot. i am using netctl-auto, and i was able to use wifi-menu to find and connect to a network without issue immediately after seeing this error and logging in.
i had actually swapped the wifi card out of this machine yesterday, and i had no problems whatseover with that (intel advanced-n 6250 with wimax) card. therefore, i fully support the theory that this is directly related to the ath9k driver.
here's a terrible but legible picture of the exact error: http://i.imgur.com/7L6jXKm.jpg

I have no atheros cards to test with, but I think you are right that the ath9k has had some unfortunate issues of late with certain cards. There have been a few threads on the forums about shit going awry with them as of about 3.10. Fortunately, the borkness that was experienced has apparently been (hopefully) resolved as of the 3.14 release. So maybe you might want to check out what kinds of commits the ath9k driver saw for 3.14 and backport them to 3.13. (You should be able to patch and build just the ath9k module with the CK sources)

I use your enable_additional_cpu_optimizations_for_gcc with linux-pf, is there a version that is compatible with linux 3.14?

@Thaodan - Yes, it patches cleanly into the 3.14 tree.
@Everyone - Please keep posts in this thread related to the repo or packages therein. Start a new thread with other issues with linux-ck itself. Thanks.

NVIDIA's latest beta driver has landed in the official repos for some reason, will the drivers in the CK repository stick with the stable release?

As maintainer for the nvidia-lts-ck package, I can say that I'm waiting for nvidia-utils to hit version 337.12 before I update the package.
I assume that graysky is waiting for the same thing.
Claire is fine.

Yeah, there is a disconnect between [extra] and [testing] right now... someone opened a flyspray I saw. As soon as the corresponding utils package is in [extra], I can bump nvidia-ck.
EDIT: Updated, enjoy.

So, I was wondering:
1) Is there a great interest in the linux-lts-ck package (as in great enough to consider putting a generic package into the repository)? I know it's been floated on the AUR package page.
2) Does anyone want to see ck releases in the AUR for LTS kernels as designated by kernel.org in the future?

Is the repo broken? It's updating very slowly for me today and the linux-ck transfer aborts after several minutes with the message
error: failed retrieving file 'linux-ck-sandybridge-3.13.11-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from repo-ck.com : transfer closed with 6909855 bytes remaining to read
I have to run -Syu several times to get the complete file.

Shouldn't be broken... godaddy has been better recently, but sometimes their web serving is subpar.

Yep, I saw it as well a couple of days ago. Took me a few tries to get the latest update.

Man, it's taking a long time to get an 3.14 ck kernel. Anyone know why?

because Con has little time to write/re-write his patches for 3.14.

Could you add bbswitch package? bbswitch-ck is in AUR.

@Sanya - Maintaining the package set I have already is pretty time consuming given the high bar for accuracy and reliability I set for my users; I don't want to take on more.

I'm having random panics and oopses at boot in the -ck-atom using i686 if I use elevator=bfq
all the panics are related to bfq_something functions, you have any idea about what could be.
For the record I test the others elevators and all work ok.
Well, I suppose that this is somekind of signature, no?

You're not the only one having random kernel panics with the bfq elevator. I'm having it with ck-k10 x86_64, lts-ck kernel x86_64 and lqx kernels.
This only started happening with BFQ v7r3 though, not v7r2 or before.

I don't use bfq so I cannot comment.

Well, probably error will the same, but the next time I will take and screenshoot.
So if someone get one panic, take one too. this for discard architecture specific things. and maybe someone will know something about somepart.
mean where is bfq upstream??? as far I underestood ConColivas (or whatever they name is) is upstream for the schedule bfs only, no??

Yeah, I'll need to see if I can get these kernel panics again.

Since you are in the process of building the new kernels, I just want to point out that you may have trouble with the broadcom-wl-ck packages. This is apparently due to changes in the toolchain. You can find a working patch for it in the normal broadcom-wl AUR package.
