Hello everyone,
I have a Dell XPS17 laptop with the optimus technology. I want to always use de GPU as I don't care about power saving (my battery is dead).
I edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf according to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA_Optimus .
As I use Gnome Shell and GDM with auto start, I put the folowing lines in /etc/gdm/Init/Default (end if file, juste before exit 0) instead of in ~/.xinitc :
xrandr --setprovideroutputsource modesetting NVIDIA-0
xrandr --auto
When I boot, the graphic interface is really slow and there is no animation in Gnome Shell at all...so I guess it doesn't work. :-)
I tried to search on Google and here but I don't really know what to do now...can anyone help me ?
Thanks !

Did you run the 3D check as stated in the wiki? That most likely would solve your 'doubt' regarding the suggested settings working or not.
As far as I know Optimus technology is best handled with through Bumblebee. You might want to take a look at it, too.

Run 3D check from the Wiki. It's something like "glxinfo | grep VGA" I believe. Post the results here. Also, have you had the Bumblebee setup installed and already working and are trying to go back to using the nVidia card only?

The actual command is
$ glxinfo | grep NVIDIA
Remember to check/have at hand the wiki entry to avoid "empty results"
