Shadowhand's Repo Information

Please lock this thread.

All users, please refer to http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sha … positories instead of this page.

This thread is for update notices for Shadowhand's Devel Repo. Please post questions and comments to the Old Thread About It. -Shadowhand

My repo contains -cvs, -svn, alpha, beta, and pre-release software. I have it because I like to have bleeding edge stuff, and I like the progams I package.

Things I package include xfce 4.3 (built from SVN), gaim (built from CVS), Gimp betas, XGL (and depends), Wine (built from CVS), Thunar (part of xfce4-svn-extra), Limewire, Firefox betas and prereleases (when available), and a few other random things. Below is a full package list.

To be able to use this repository, copy this into /etc/pacman.conf:

[shadowhand]
Server = http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/shadowhand

and run 'pacman -Sy'. You may view the packages and thier versions with 'pacman -Sl shadowhand'. PKGBUILDS for all packages are available at http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/shadowhand/00-pkgbuild/

NOTE: to use xfce4-svn with the Testing repo, you will need to use Stavrosg's Testing builds, located here:  http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/stavrosg/

Again, please direct all questions and comments to the Old Thread

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

About your script: If you want to clean the cache, you should do:
pacman -Scc
or at least  cd to /var/cache/pacman/pkg before.

Oh my, I was in a hurry and didn't ever see that. Fixed.

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

= Latest -svn/-cvs
= Xfce now has a proper Desktop entry for (K|G)DM 8)
= Fixed gaim-cvs (filesize is now 1.9MB!) 8)

It's highly recommended that you install gaim-cvs again (as of 2 minutes ago) due to the changes. Please report if anything doesn't work, but I think it's just been slimmed down. I built it in a clean chroot, which reduced the filesize dramatically (it no longer picks up crap like jack-audio-connection-kit).

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

= Latest -svn/-cvs
= Gaim-cvs has been patched to use a Tango-ized pixmap set (Please give me feedback on this. If you like it or hate it, let me know)

8) I'm so happy right now I could go streaking: xfdesktop now supports standard desktop icons, minimized windows, or no icons at all. I <3 Xfce devs.

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Repo updated:
+ Added XGL and depends

To start XGL with Gnome: startxgl
To start XGL with Xfce: startxgl-xfce

You have to do this from a command line, like you would do a startx.

NOTE: remove cairo and glproto (pacman -Rd cairo glproto) before installing XGL.

Would it be possible to run XGL with Fluxbox or Fvwm? I find XGL interesting but I don't like Xfce and Gnome.

No, XGL requires a session manager of some kind.

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

I've installed your xgl yesterday and no matter if I start startglx or startglx-xfce I see same error:

Fatal server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already
running

(of course there is no another X running, and I am able to start standard xserver with startx)

I found similiar error message on discussions on lists.freedesktop.org but can't find solution.

Is yesterdays build correct?

Re: Shadowhand's Repo Information

Repo updated.

= All packages rebuilt/upgraded with the new gcc/glibc.

Note that this may cause some issues for upgrading. If you experience any issues with "corrupted packages", then clear your cache and install again.
