This looks like a nice package, giving a good gui for data analysis (http://www.scicraft.org/), and it also runs octave and R programs etc. It does have a fair list of dependencies though:
# Dependencies
* Python
* Qt for X11
* PyQt
* VTK
* Octave
* R
* RPy
* Numeric
# Optional
* PyMOL
* PyQwt
* Numarray
* PyX
* SOAPpy
http://www.scicraft.org/?cat=1&page=4&d … _Linu.html
Several of which I can't find in the arch repositories. I'd appreciate any help people can give.

what is missing in the repos for scicraft:
* VTK ( http://www.vtk.org/ )
* RPy ( http://rpy.sf.net/ )
# Optional
* PyMOL (on my todo list for inclusion to extra)
* PyQwt (needs qwt that i already have on my machine - also on todo ... but at place 40 or so)
* Numarray ( http://www.stsci.edu/resources/software … e/numarray )
* PyX ( http://pyx.sourceforge.net/ )
* SOAPpy ( http://pywebsvcs.sourceforge.net/ )
the biggest trouble makes the vtk ... if anybody has time to make a vtk pkg, that would be a good start
The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.

In the community (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/i686/vtk/) repository there is already a vtk package, is it the correct one?
rpy is in AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pyth … setlang=it).

Wow, a nearly 10 year necrobump. New record?
Please don't do this.
