Why Remove OSS Compatibility Modules from modprobe.conf?

Does anyone know why we are supposed to remove the OSS compatibility modules from modprobe.conf after the last upgrade.

I have them still in my modprobe.conf and sound is still working.

Because udev now does what those lines did.
