[Solved] Pianobar not working with either pulse or alsa in libao

I use pulseaudio and have pulseaudio-alsa installed.  No matter how I set my /etc/libao.conf, I get errors when running pianobar:

default_driver=alsa
dev=default

=============>

ao_alsa ERROR: Unable to open ALSA device 'default' for playback => Invalid argument
/!\ Cannot open audio device

default_driver=pulse

=============>

ao_pulse ERROR: Driver pulse unable to set option #default_driver=pulse
/!\ Cannot open audio device

I also get the above when leaving the file blank.  And for some reason I can't figure out, this happens:

# comment
default_driver=pulse

=============>

ao_pulse ERROR: Driver pulse unable to set option # comment=
/!\ Cannot open audio device

I'm not sure why it's trying to parse a comment.  But anyway, does anyone have any idea what's going on?  Thanks in advance.

Installing libao-svn fixed this problem.
