Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

There is now a 4chan extension that works in dwb if anyone is interested - https://github.com/ccd0/4chan-x/raw/mas … -X.user.js
I've noticed that the settings 'bleed' in to the bottom other sites for some reason but it works aside from that.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

Hey,

I have a little but annoying problem with dwb. Each time I try to reach that URL (carfree.free.fr), dwb immediatly crashes, every single time I tried. What can I do to find a solution, or at least identify where it goes wrong ?

Edit : when running in a terminal, I got this : Segmentation fault : core dumped.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

This seems to be a webkitgtk bug, I've had the same issue with uzbl.  Downgrading webkitgtk to 2.4.1 should fix it for now.  This bug looks like it's probably the same issue as well.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

Can someone help me to configure supergenpass? The only thing I changed is encription method (md5-->sha256). Yet when I invoke it with "ep" to place the password in a text box and click login I get "Wrong username and/or password" even though I typed the password correctly.

EDIT:
Figured out the passwords. Any help with the zoom level?

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

First, a wonderfully fast browser - thanks for all the effort. Just installed it on a small slow netbook with a minimal Arch install. However, fonts are rendering poorly at a number of websites, including gmail. They sort of look washed out. I have not installed ttf-ms-fonts but have installed ttf-bistream-vera, ttf-freefont anda couple of others. Are fonts my problem, if so how can I fix this rendering?

EDIT: solved above by removing xorg-fonts-75dpi and xorg-fonts-100dpi packages as per portix's IRC suggestion.

Secondly, is there a script anywhere to convert a bookmarks .html file to dwb format?

Have you tried e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dw … _in_Github ?

dwb format seems to be '<url> <bookmark name>' What is the html format you're using?

Not that I can tell, just go to paste it somewhere else and it still has some other clipboard contents.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

I'm having trouble getting dwb to use a global css style:

I downloaded this theme and saved it in ~/.config/dwb/userstyle.css

I put this into user-stylesheet-uri in dwb:settings, but nothing happened, even after a dwb restart.

Any help would be apprieciated as the rest of my desktop is a dark theme and this kind of spoils it (and I don't want to use firefox, especiall after v.29 came out!)

Cheers!

Any news on that topic? I have the same problem, dwb crashes suddenly.
I have following console output:

4: dwb() [0x411bef]
  3: dwb() [0x42fcdf]
  2: /usr/lib/libpthread.so.0(+0xf4b0) [0x7fb60d55f4b0]
  1: /usr/lib/libgnutls.so.28(+0xb7ec0) [0x7fb60d825ec0]
[1] 2646 segmentation fault (core dumped) dwb

I downgraded to webkit 2.4.1, this didn't help. dwb-git crashes also.

I believe that these are issues with webkitgtk+ itself and not something that dwb is causing.

No, it's gnutls (3.3.3) that is causing this. Fixed in 3.3.4.

Thanks JWR.  I just assumed it was the usual crashing that I had experienced with dwb.  It is such a great browser, but webkit just makes it so damn unstable at times.  At least this time it wasn't webkit's fault...

Indeed.  I do really love it.  But I had to switch to firefox/pentadactyl so that I could avoid the crashes.  I still have dwb set up to be what opens html emails and stuff from newsbeuter.  Fortunately, webkit is stable enough for that.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

If only netsurf was a bit more complete, that one would be a very nice base for dwb or any lightweight webkit browser. Maybe the suckless guys will port surf to it someday. Would be awesome, but dwb is and stays the most usable browser.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

sekret wrote:

How do you define 'usable'?
I recently had a look at netsurf, but no go.

dwb is pretty buggy for me - it may be webkit's (or some other piece of software's) fault, but
- it crashes
- it hogs memory, so I have to periodically restart it [1]
- the cpu gets pegged at 100% for several seconds when I click e.g. the list in the top right corner of https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … ckages/0ad (it says 'packages/0ad')
- when I open a link with a header in a new tab, dwb "loses track" of the header and scrolls past it
etc.

For some people these might be 'minor annoyances', but for others the verdict will be 'broken' (or misconfigured ;P)

[1] vimb doesn't implement tabbing, it uses 'tabbed' for it, so each tab is a separate instance and the memory gets released when the tab is closed.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

I meant "usable" = browsing with dwb is the most elegant way of browsing I ever had, especially because of the extensions, which sets it apart from the other webkit browsers.

I recently switched to the gtk3 version of dwb, which feels snappier than the gtk2 version. Could be caused by webkit, I don't know.

It seems to recover better without using swap as long as I exit it with ctrl-q when it gets overloaded.  Enabling swap seems to aggrivate the memory leaks and any instances of systemd-coredump.

Re: dwb - a webkit web browser

Found the problem that appears to be specific to dwb with tt-rss. dwb complains on loading the url http://localhost/tt-rss/

Site tried to set super-cookie @ TLD localhost (base localhost)

Other webkit based browsers do not have a problem with tt-rss. tt-rss will load if dwb is run as super user i.e. sudo dwb, but that is not desirable.
